Every race in Faerun has its positives and negatives. Half-Elves get this ridiculously powerful ability to detect all hidden at will - including doors. Elves get bonuses to their stats and hot women. Dwarves have stonecunning, stat increases, and have the best the best accent.
Any chance us humans could get our increase percentage in mastering skills/spells and our extra feat?

Actually with the new system discern no longer reveals hidden mobiles and pc's.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.

Fine, fine. But they still get to run around wearing a leaf!

Dont humans already get an extra feat?

Since the code changes that came with the new races, humans do in fact get the extra feat point. That does not apply retroactively to humans who were already created before the new races came in.

If these do not retro-actively affect old characters, are old characters all supposed to have their stats above 18 lowered back down to 18 and the stat points spent refunded? When I came back, I was told my character's strength was over 18 and that I was being 'standardized.' Yet, it has been my experience that many others do in fact have over 18 base stats (meaning unmodified by race/equipment). Were my stat points re-arranged erroneously?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'standardized'. That I know of, no character has had stats over 18 reduced. Even those who blatantly abused the unlimited trainers and stats for glory exchange system a few years back.
PM me with details of who and when if you would and I'll look into it.

I don't know of anyoe being "standardized" either. Can you point us to the post where that was stated so we can consider the originating source?
Many older PCs got to keep things that were taken from certain classes/races in one stage of the game or another. Some have lost things during one stage or another. The discern skill for half-elves for example, I believe, also is now granted to the newer elven races. Old elven PCs, even after having their races changed to more specific subraces, do not get discern.
I see older PCs as just that, older. Things are different in the imaginary world of ours, we should just go with the flow, IMO.

At some point, there was a bug that let you train a stat as high you wanted, without taking the trainer's limitation into consideration. Some raised their stats as high as 26 or higher with this bug.
Some characters, who had very high stats, were "standardized" to the top value of 18.

Answers that point then. That's was a bug fix rather than a creation policy change.

In regards to the aspect of old characters as opposed to new, I think a lot of people have fallen under the misconception that older characters are better than the new. I really don't think this is the case at all. Older characters do retain some of the benefits of the old systems BUT they also lose out on some of the new stuff. I don't really see anything wrong with that, it just serves to balance things out. Your old character may not be able to get the racial feat that was put in recently, but they may have stats higher than are currently allowed. You win in one area and lose in another so you tie.
