This specific one? Isn't, not yet anyways. But it could be very easily depending on application if implimented. That is my concern. Slippery slide regardless.

We have races with the natural ability to fly if you'd prefer that.

Not playable races, though.

There have already been some Avariels I've seen over my time playing here.

Player character avariels?

Yep - even remember him fluttering his wings in Market Square.

I would speculate that that is either an exception/application or a use of the polymorph spell, since avariel is not an allowed race in creation yet.

Regardless, this is not real life. In D&D there are such things as spell-like and Supernatural abilities.

He was a special application character, just FYI.

Yes, balanced ones.

Considering the spell-like ability is not in the game nor has it been discussed, I don't feel balance should really even be a consideration for us to be sparring over. That's up to the administrators.

Actually, I have noticed the Admins from time to time, very rarely, just occassionly, a wee bit....read and value the thoughts of players on just about every aspect of the game including balance. *shrug* Perhaps I have been mislead over the years.
Friendly discussion is not a harmful thing, hard as it can be to see it now and then.

I wouldn't consider a spell-like ability that required two feats as prereqs. and can only be used maybe 3-5 times/24 game hours unbalanced unless it did a ridiculous amount of damage. If it adds a bit more diversity to one of the more common rare races so much the better. How well/not well it fits into the setting I'm not sure.

I agree with Dalvyn in this instance. I actually had a post saying something similar that it does sound a bit supermanish, but I wanted to hear from more people first.
I don't think balance is really necessarily to discuss on this yet as it is as yet still a vague ability (and there is even an item in the DMG that has a similar ability once per day). It isn't the power of the ability that is in question, merely if it will fit within the theme of the FR and FK setting. For an item, I think this would be nice to have, but for a natural ability as a race it does seem a bit like a superpower.
Me being the rules nazi that I am, I would perhaps change my opinion if there was a published feat similar to this for FR.
Also, Selveem, please don't let this prevent you from posting further ideas in the future.

Sometimes we have ideas that aren't agreed with, sometimes we have ideas that everyone agrees with. We won't know until it is suggested

Actually, it's in Races of Faerûn per "
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/feats"
"Faerûn is a fictional subcontinent, the primary setting of the Dungeons & Dragons world of Forgotten Realms. It is the western part of an unnamed supercontinent quite similar to real-world Eurafrasia." - Wikipedia.org.
Were you unaware or did I misunderstand you?

You have appealed to my nerdy side.

I have failed my saving throw against charm person. I like this feat more!
I have Races of Faerun, so anyone who wants to read the full feat for this-
Eyes of Light [General]
You can focus the holy power within you to create a beam of destructive light energy.
Prerequisites: Aasimar, Celestial Bloodline
Benefit: Once per day you may fire a ray of searing light from your eyes as a spell-like ability. Your caster level for this ability is your character level. Using this ability counts as your use of light (or daylight, if you have the Light to Daylight feat) for the day.
Besides... didnt everyone know Superman was an Aasimar?

Um, those of you that are married and ever forgot a birthday or anniversary or forgot to notice the wife has a new hairstyle... the above feat is very common among Humanoid women.
And it IS NOT necessarily ONCE per day.

I know of an air genasi character who complained a lot to me OOC that her Air Genasi couldn't use her levitate ability after the new spell system came in, so she quit playing it and had it removed... is this fixed? Can the Planar races like the genasi and aasimar and tieflings use their abilitites even if they are not in spells or skills or such not? I have yet to hear evidence of these being fixed yet. Someone enlighten me, please?

Do Aasimar suffer any disadvantage, to go with their advantages? If not, it would seem they would dearly need one were this to be added to them.

Yes, using two feats on non-class items to gain it.
