How many mounts and/or minions is a PC allowed to have?
The helpfile states up to two minions, but it is obviously possible to have three minions and even buy a fourth one. Now confusion demands clarification if a PC can have f.e. three mounts f.e. horses, griffons, eagles and a "usual" pet f.e. dog, cat, ferret etc.
Is there a difference between mounts and usual pets?
Thank you

Two minions is the proper limit, but currently the code seems to allow more than that.
I would ask players not to make use of this current disparity

what is classified as a minion? I have a horse and a camel. Is one of these considered a mount and the other a minion?

From what I would understand, a minion is not a pet. A minion would be like a mercenary.
But, as mercenaries are being removed from the game, I don't know anymore.

Formally, years ago the code only allowed for one pet. This changed to two, a mount and a pet, then this changed to minions which meant you could buy two mounts or two pets depending on preference. Minions are your mount mobiles and or your pets or hired help.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.

I would be interested to know how it is possible to gain more than two?
Thanks.

Ah, Oghma, just to clarify that I'm reading this correctly (because I truly didn't know), even horses you purchase now are considered 'minions?'

So I'm not sure, but if this clarification is correct, it would help me.
Familiar = minion
Mount = Minion
Pet = Minion
Mercenary = Minion
Dead raised = Minion
Are there any exceptions in this list, or is this correct, and basically, we choose any two that make sense, and stop the spending habbits?

I was under the impression that minions were "creatures" purchased from stores.
Pets
Mounts
Familiars
Mercenaries

I do agree that an undead creature shouldn't count against your minions. A necromancer can only control two skeletons at once? *yawn*

It's intentional that you can make more undead minions, and animated minions. Those spells were meant for building legions..
Of course, the legions are supposed to ultimately expire...

ok, so the cap of 2 minions is correct in all but raised dead/magically summond beings, right?

Can somebody help me then because I have three mounts/minions since almost one rl-life year now? Should I just sell one of it to fix it?
I can remember that the shopkeeper say "Sorry, only one mount at a time" but that apparently does not concern griffons and/or giant eagles?

Hoping that I will be corrected by someone if any aspect of this is incorrect, here's a summary:
* A minion is an entity that can be beholden to you (you can ORDER it to do things) indefinitely, like a pet, mercenary, mount. It does not include undead followers or summoned or charmed creatures, which are brought under your control by magic and will eventually stop following your orders in the absence of additional magical intervention.
* You should not have more than two minions under your control at any one time
* The game code should prohibit you from doing so, but is presently reported to fail in this regard in some specific cases

I don't think undead followers ever "decay"/stop following orders. Unless they get killed, I think they're permanent.
So what will happen in cases of more than 2 minions? How about for renamed ones?

This problem still seems to be occurring. Could I ask anyone who has been able to purchase a third minion in the last few months (pet, mount, servant) to post accordingly to the bug reporting forum.
A reminder; only two minions are allowed per character at this time. Anything else is a bug.
