a) Yes, I am biased because I play a mage, so bear that in mind
b) Yes, I am aware that the imms are gradually integrating spells into the game so as to judge their affect on balance and the like.
On with the proposition, anyway.
I believe that, with domain spells being available to clerics, allowing spells such as time stop, gate (and other high-level spells) to be cast, there should be a way for wizards, other clerics (and bards too?) to access some of the higher-level or rarer spells. Although the problem is not a major one, it is a source of (albeit very minor, I'm not moaning) contention that priests are able to have access to some wonderful spells that wizards of similar levels cannot obtain.
So, what are the issues here?
We don't want to suddenly have tonnes of spells that are potentially unbalancing, introduced into the game. However, perhaps there could be a list of the spells available to priests through domain slots. This list could then be made available, and all wizards could apply to research one (or two?) of the spells from that list. Hopefully there would be a decent enough cross-section, enabling spells to be given to those who apply to research them. These could then be passed on to other characters through scrolls, or teaching.
Maybe glory or experience or just gold could be used instead, to buy spells from a famous wizard shop?
Basically, I just thought I'd open this idea for discussion. Because yes, I really want to cast timestop, if I'm honest.
Let me know what y'all think!
