I, Sergeant Jaenoic of the Waterdeep Watch, do hereby announce the trial of Castet. Castet has been charged with treason against the city of Waterdeep.
ATTENTION! We call upon those interested in law and justice to step forward. Both defense attorney and prosecutor are needed. Contact myself, Sergeant Jaenoic if you are interested. Also required is a priest of Tyr to preside as judge.
Those who need nae apply:
Those with a criminal record
Those who are fugitives
Those who are of a race whose entrance into the city is considered unlawful.
OOC: I am planning this event for
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... c=0&p1=861
but since it is such short notice it is subject to change. If you are interested feel free to seek Jaenoic out IC or send me a PM. This is to be a player-run event so I need players to help contribute!
EDIT: It will be held in the Waterdeep Palace Courtroom, just next to Lord Piergeiron's Palace.

Oh, been a while since Nysan has seen a trail that he wasn't the main event for. Got to see if I can get time away from things to attend.

I will most likely be pushing the date back, though I don't know of yet as to when.
Also, an addition made to the note...
ATTENTION! The matter of recompense for time, effort, and service has occurred to me. For this reason, I am offering a 50 platinum salary, to be paid after the trial to the defense attorney, prosecutor, and judge in the amount of 50 platinum to each participant.

Lerytha Holt, attorney, writes:
It is not customary for the City which initiates the prosecution, to pay for both defence, the prosecution and the judge.
A fair trial cannot be conducted in which all those present are bankrolled by the authorities. A judge of Tyr cannot be expected to claim expenses (though if they choose to, I have full confidence in the neutrality of their judgements according to the law). Whilst a prosecuting body can claim expenses from the state, I believe a defending body must claim their expenses elsewhere.
I trust the City of Waterdeep will rethink their aim to recompense the defending lawyer, lest accusations of bribery to secure a certain result be levelled against the proceedings, implicating both the City, and any person associated with the trial.

I have taken your words into consideration. Allow me first to explain my line of reasoning: Since all parties are to be appointed by the city it seems only natural that all parties would be paid by the city. When asked if he wished to hire a defense attorney the defended forfeited his right. In accordance to law one will be appointed to him by the city. It would be unfair to the defendant to have to come up with salary for the defense attorney if such attorney was not chosen by the defendant.
As to the prosecution and judge, it seems correct in the eyes of the law that they be paid by the city, as they are employed on the city's behalf.
However, taking your words into consideration I shall retract the offer of payment to the defense attorney. It will be on the defense attorney's shoulders to discuss with the defendant appropriate fee.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I'm still looking for a judge to preside. A priest of any lawful faith would do well, Tyr, Helm, Torm, etc. If any are interested please seek me out IC or PM me(preferred). Thanks!

If I could get the new time and date, I'm free a lot for a couple of days. Florian is free for a couple days, that is.

If a judge is still needed, Raona could do it. She's talked some with Castet, but not without asking him if he wanted to divulge things he was saying. I'm coming off a very demanding school term, but the worst is over. If Florian's already on, better yet, but if he can't do it, and nobody else has stepped up, I'm in.

Well... Due to certain constraints this will have to be pushed back again. Sorry folks, I'll reorganize and see what I can pull together.
