Hello,

This is a bit of an offshoot of the whisper thread and since I didn't want to get too offtopic on that thread with discussion on this, I thought it would be best to create a whole new thread. This also is very similar to the Clairaudience/Arcane Ear thread that Japcil recently started.

The suggestion, as others have made in that thread, is to overhear tells with the listen skill. The difference in what was suggested there and here would be though that you wouldn't just be able to overheard when two people are telling in the same room, you would be able to overhear EVERYTHING.

In this, I kinda of think of the amulet as not just a sort of microphone to speak your words into, but also as a speaker to hear the other person's words from.

To clarify, with a successful listen check, you could overhear-
Tells sent from someone in the room you are currently in
Tells received by someone in the room you are currently in

I often do:

smote mumbles into her amulet, though it can be heard, "You're retarded get out of my head thanks." etc

A good way to instigate rp without a big code change, and keeping the only private mode of communication icly, still private. :) Not that the skill wouldn't be fun, but every single other mode of communication in game can be eavesdropped. :D Does not make good for evil/good plotting if there's nothing to be whispered anymore.
