There is no increase of skill with riposte in spite of seeing the echo (confirmed). I am also not sure the riposte actually does any damage (unconfirmed).

This is a known bug. You can resolve it by logging out and logging back in.

The echo here is from a program, not the door itself, and so it was a little misleading. I've reworded it.
