Re: {Leveling/Training}
I think you should let the staff speak for themselves. It was a staff member who told me so, thus, they did speak for themselves. I'd appreciate you not attempting to bully the discussion to favor your opinion. Asking someone to let the staff talk for themselves is bullying? No matter how many hot ...

Re: {Leveling/Training}
Re: Brar: You can insist on calling it whatever you want, but in the end the product _is_, in fact, the repetitive use of the skill (thus, grinding). Additionally, usage of skills may be roleplay (I, in fact, believe it is) but others (including a few staff members), do not believe that is so. You ...

Re: {Leveling/Training}
I can think of one temple that has dummies that were purposely built to disarm and help players train grip, and that was put in at least 8 years ago if not 9. Which is great for the members of that faith, but everyone else is left hung out to dry. :D That temple is fairly open to anyone that wants ...

Re: {Leveling/Training}
There's a difference between 'quickly' and 10 years. I know which skill your thinking of, grip. but here's the thing....how often in the last ten years until recently were pc's actually disarmed by mobs? the point being is that it is sometimes impossible to create the right conditions to practice e...

Re: Blunt VS Edged Weapons VS Peircing...
Does FK's combat system take armor material and type into account when it determines damage done by weapon types, or is this more of a general common sense and immersion in roleplaying flavor?

Sorry, that is way too late for me to attend on a weekday if it goes as long as previous Winterfest celebrations. Hopefully other bards can attend!

Re: Mount murder
More to the point: What do you all think about attacking mounts? Should it be allowed? What criteria would you assign to those situations? I'd like to see a trigger in combat where if you are mounted and fighting, and your mount gets killed, you have a random chance to be crushed under it (Limb dam...

Re: components in fk
It may have changed and I am not aware, but don't spellpouches make anything you put in them weigh nothing, thus the enforcement of only components being allowed in them back in the day?

Re: components in fk
I don't find that stupid at all, though my opinion is worth less than a horse turd. The only positive aspect of having so many components is encouraging trade between PC's, but it's a fairly hard learning curve that I never mastered in finding all of them and keeping your spell pouches stocked. Mayb...

Re: Strength Mod bonuses not applying to cwt properly
Bulls Strength provides +4 strength (unless tweaked with metamagic). Strength score, not modifier, determines carry weight. Bulls Strength should effect carryweight. If Bulls Strength was not meant to modify carryweight then it would only provide a +2 bonus to the strength modifier, and not a +4 to ...

Re: Combat Carnival OOC rules?
The Combat Carnival is in a controlled pit fighting environment, compared to the other areas that are more free range where wandering mobiles can gang up, or you might encounter hostile player characters. I find it far more dangerous to be in a forest filled with enemies, a battleground, or an islan...

Re: Combat Carnival OOC rules?
Wasn't that preference of the builder and the admin at the time it was put in? Worth a revisit on the OOC instructions, but I don't think any of the other places are relevant to why the message was put in originally. Lastly, isn't it a bit less dangerous than the other places? Pretty sure it's a con...

Re: Score/Affected Q&A!
Worth command? Or are you asking for the amount to be displayed on the actual score sheet? It was displayed before just like with the worth command, money has to be in the inventory and not in any containers. Should the worth command be updated to show how much experience you have left until the ne...

Re: The Market Square and You
On a dark coastal Trade Way, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of the ocean, rising up through the air Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night. There he stood in the gateway I heard the guard give a yell This could be Cel...

Re: Zmud and Windows 7
Estrild, I am using Windows 7 x64-bit and the verison of zmud that FK has supplied since the dark ages works for me so long as I run it as an administrator. You might also check where it is installed? Try running installing it somewhere other than the programs folders and give it a try too if you le...

Re: WD Friendly Policy
Give me a break, dude. Many of the rules are based on it. Just to name a few: Three of those four examples look like rules put in place to keep the content at a respectable "rating" for the age groups that play. Not to keep immersion and roleplay from breaking. The complaints system is put in place...

Re: WD Friendly Policy
In response to that example, I think it should be down to each individual how they choose to respond. I would prefer it to be up to each individual for any situation where the people involved are obviously not new players, e.g. rare races. If someone is below level 10, they still have access to the...

Re: WD Friendly Policy
I thought that policy put into place by prior administration before we had other hometowns available other than Zhentil Keep (and perhaps Mithril Hall?) to prevent a few different things, namely: - New players being ignored and losing interest in FK - Players in Waterdeep were being constantly haras...
